Norton Hammersley announce platinum sponsorship of Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathon

Norton Hammersley Firm News

Norton Hammersley are proud to be platinum sponsors of the Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathon.  Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathons represent their biggest fundraisers of the year. They rely on the proceeds to help raise, train, and match their amazing dogs with visually impaired students, people whose lives are transformed by new levels of independence and freedom.

Southeastern Guide Dogs create and nurture partnerships between visually impaired individuals and guide dogs, facilitating life’s journey with mobility, independence and dignity. They also provide service dogs for veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Our very own John M Compton has an active involvement in a number of charitable and civic organizations including being on the Board of Directors for the Sarasota Humane Society and Southeastern Guide Dogs.

The Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathons have evolved from humble beginnings to a series of wonderful, multi-site events that comprise their biggest fundraiser of the year.

The first Walkathon was held in 1987 at the Manatee County Fairgrounds in Palmetto, Florida. About 50 volunteers and supporters attended and raised over $15,000 on behalf of their guide dogs. Two years ago they expanded to seven locations, and now nine including Sarasota and Bradenton.

Norton Hammersley have a team doing the Southeastern Guide Dogs Walkathon on Saturday the 22nd of April in Sarasota starting at Payne Park at 8:30AM.
