Derrick Maginness alongside Jason Hamilton of Pinnacle Association Management co-hosted a presentation on Emergency Powers for board members at Michael’s on East to wrap up August.

Pinnacle Community Association Management is a locally owned provider of comprehensive Community Association Management Services that are focused on small to medium sized Homeowners and Condominium Associations.

Emergency Powers granted by Florida legislature to condominium association board members, for use during a “state of emergency” were intended for hurricanes and other disasters. However, during the pandemic, Florida board members were also granted emergency powers, to make necessary decisions during the crisis.

Derrick and Jason presented to C.A.N. Sarasota group to discuss the appropriate way for board members to understand the legal limits of the use of these emergency powers. The highly contagious delta variant is spreading rapidly in Florida and is the dominant strain of the COVID-19 virus in the country, according to estimates from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This issue among others were the topic of conversation at the event.
